This moment is more than a milestone of growth; it is a threshold. As a Franciscan community, we reflect on who we are becoming and how we are called to live more deeply our shared values of community, respect, resilience, and service.
Importantly, 2026 also marks the 800th anniversary of the Transitus of Saint Francis, the “crossing over” which recalls Francis’ final act of trust, peace, and hope as he entrusted himself fully to God. This sacred commemoration invites us to reflect on how authentically we are living the Gospel vision entrusted to us by Francis and Clare.
“Ask, and you shall receive; seek, and you shall find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.” - Matthew 7:7
Our 2026 theme, Ask, Seek, Knock, reminds us that God continually invites us forward. God listens when we ask, walks with us when we seek, and opens doors when we have the courage to knock. Yet this promise also calls us to action. Doors do not open unless we step toward them. Faith calls us to respond with courage.
The door is a powerful symbol of invitation, choice, and new beginnings. In 2026, we stand before many doors: new roles, new relationships, new responsibilities, and new challenges that invite us to live our Franciscan values more deeply.
Living the Theme
Throughout 2026, we are called to:
- Ask for guidance, wisdom, and understanding
- Seek what is good, just, and life‑giving
- Knock boldly when opportunities arise, stepping forward in faith and hope
As a Franciscan community, we are also invited to open doors for others to welcome, encourage, support, and walk alongside those who may feel uncertain or hesitant.
As we move forward together, may we remain aware of God’s invitation, courageous in our choices, and united in love.
