Learning

San Damiano Learning is grounded in a learner‑centred Model of Pedagogy, where every student is known, valued and supported to grow academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. Inspired by the Franciscan charism and guided by Gospel values, learning places the learner at the centre of all teaching and decision‑making.

Teaching at San Damiano College is intentional and evidence‑informed, drawing on research and high‑impact practices to support how students learn best. Learning experiences are deliberately designed to establish understanding, activate prior knowledge and support learners through explicit teaching, guided practice and meaningful engagement.

Teachers continually evaluate and respond to student learning using data, feedback and reflection, adjusting instruction to meet individual needs and promote excellence and equity. This responsive approach ensures learning is inclusive, challenging and accessible for all students.

San Damiano Learning is strengthened through a strong professional learning community, where staff refine and reflect on their practice, collaborate with colleagues and pursue continual improvement. Through this shared commitment, students are supported to become resilient learners, critical thinkers and active contributors, prepared to learn with purpose and live out Gospel values in the world.
